Collaborative Climate Action – a Prerequisite for more Ambitious Climate Action

Virtual launch event

There’s no longer doubt – to tackle climate change a concerted and cooperative approach between national and subnational governments is necessary.  Collaborative Climate Action, the coordination and cooperation between government levels in climate action, is key to turn the tide against global warming.

We invite you to learn more about the newly published report “Collaborative Climate Action – a prerequisite for more ambitious climate policy. The report outlines the necessity for more ambitious and well-coordinated climate action across levels of government and the importance of cities and regions in the process. Collaborative climate action contributes to the consistency and coherence in climate policy, from the international to the local level. It is a guiding principle for creating more effective policy and mitigating potentially contradictory incentives and overlapping efforts, which can save significant resources. The report introduces various existing initiatives and practices of cities, regions and national governments around the globe cooperating in climate action.

The event will feature inputs from Monika Zimmermann, lead author of the report, as well as practical experiences from Indonesia. The projects Climate Policy Meets Urban Development (CPMUD) and Vertically Integrated Climate Policies (VICLIM) will also be represented.
