Climate Chance Observatory makes available to local and subnational governments and all kinds of actors, the 2019 Synthesis Report on Non-State Climate Action. Summarizing over 1,000 sources among the most recent reports, academic studies, press articles, NGO publication, this yearly updated Synthesis Report draws a large panorama of the diversity of climate actions implemented by local and subnational governments, companies, NGOs, and other actors.
The report is a unique source of case studies and examples, analysing strategies of actors to mitigate GHG emissions and adapt to changing climates at national and local levels, while also being a toolbox facilitating the understanding major trends of emissions. These resources will prove useful to other cities and projects, inspire reflections, benchmark actions against the world and highlight results before partners and networks.
Available in both English and French, this Synthesis report 2019 is made up of four books:
- Synthesis report 2019 on climate action by local and subnational governments – Local action Book.It gathers the main results displayed by climate initiatives of cities and regions in 2019, introduces 13 case studies of cities and regions and then travel around the world in 80 initiatives to explore the diversity of actions implemented by local and subnational governments in 10 public policy issues.
- Synthesis report 2019 on adaptation action – Adaptation Book. This first edition takes stock of the available data reporting adaptation of territories, as well as 6 case studies on the adaptation of cities and regions; papers analyzing adaptation strategies in 6 economic sectors, and a review of available funding for adaptation.
- Synthesis report 2019 on climate action by sectors – Sector-based Book, along with sectoral country profiles issued all year long. It offers a quantitative and qualitative reading of the 6 major GHG emitting sectors: energy production, transport, building, industry, waste, land-use.
- Synthesis report 2019 on climate action by the financial sector – Finance Book. This synthesis report is a short actualisation of the 2018 Synthesis report analyzing climate actions of investors, banks and insurers, as well as the evolution of financial products known as ‘green’.
