4th CITIES FORUM 2020 – Together we shape a sustainable urban future

Organized by the EC Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, the 4th CITIES Forum will bring together key stakeholders from European, national and local levels. The participants will discuss future avenues for urban development and more specifically the EU Urban Agenda.

The two-day event held in Porto, Portugal will take an interactive approach. On the first day, workshops offered by the city will elaborate on technological solutions to climate and environmental issues at specific locations. Furthermore, two panel discussion will revolve around the Urban Agenda for the EU and how cities may find support from the European Urban Initiative.

On the second day, various cities will present good practices making use of European Regional Development Funds and highlight their transition towards a circular economy and equal access to housing and services for all inhabitants. Mayors from different cities will reflect on current challenges but also supply their visions for better urban policymaking and urban investments. Finally, the progress made by the Urban Agenda Partnerships and the localization of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals will be discussed.
