2nd webinar: How to mainstream climate projects into cities’ governance frameworks?
The GIZ project “Climate Policy Meets Urban Development” invites you to join this three-part webinar series which looks at mechanisms supporting collaborative climate action and discusses good practices in Germany and internationally. The series will take place from July to October and you can find an overview of all dates and topics in the flyer below.
How to mainstream climate projects into cities’ governance frameworks?
The series will continue with its second webinar on 1 September 2020, 3-4 pm (CEST/UTC+2). The webinar will deal with Germany’s multi-level support structure, at the example of the National Climate Initiative, especially the “Local Governance Scheme” (“Kommunalrichtlinie”), which supports projects on emission reductions at the local level. This may not only result in significant cuts of urban emissions, but also relieves municipal budgets through reduced energy costs.
In the first part, selected programmes that support the anchoring and mainstreaming of climate projects into the local policy agenda will be presented. Practical experiences at the example of the City of Heidelberg are discussed thereafter. Speakers this time include
Natalie Eichler, Desk Officer at division IK III 3 “National Climate Initiative, Climate Policy in the Business Sector and Municipalities” at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU)
Ralf Bermich, Head of Department “Energy and Climate Protection” at the City of Heidelberg.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. The webinar series is open to the public, so please feel free to share this and following invitations with potentially interested partners in your network. The session will be recorded, and with your participation we will assume your approval.
