The GIZ project “Climate Policy Meets Urban Development” invites you to join this three-part webinar series which looks at support mechanisms for local climate action and discusses urban multi-level climate governance in Germany and internationally. The series will take place from July to October and you can find the link for the first webinar in the information below.

1st Webinar: The German multi-level climate support architecture

The series will kick off with its first webinar on 7 July 2020, 3-4 pm (CEST/UTC+2). The session will introduce Germany’s multi-level governance framework with a focus on the German National Climate Initiative (NCI) and its mechanisms to foster local climate projects:

• Andrea Fischer-Hotzel, research fellow at the German Institute of Urban Affairs, will introduce the work of the Service and Competence Centre for Municipal Climate Protection (SK:KK), which is responsible for the coordination and steering of NCI-funded projects and acts as link between the national and local level.
• Regine Wosnitza, project leader at Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg, will offer practical experience of municipal NCI implementation presenting  the Berlin project “Kiez (er)Fahren” which aims to transition Berlin’s Schöneberg Nord into a climate-friendly multi-mobility neighbourhood through a local “Verkehrswende” (transformation of transportation).

During the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to provide live feedback through polls and to ask questions during the Q&A session.
